Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan shared a heartfelt moment during a recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18, praising superstar Shah Rukh Khan for his iconic role in the 2004 critically acclaimed film Swades. Host Amitabh Bachchan took a pause during the game show to laud Shah Rukh Khan’s performance, describing it as absolutely outstanding and revealing that he personally tells SRK the exact same thing whenever the two meet in person. The special moment unfolded while interacting with contestant Bablu Kumar Pandit during the second episode of the iconic quiz show’s eighteenth season. The host presented a question asking the participant to identify the Bollywood actor who played a NASA scientist, an Indian Air Force pilot, and the coach of the Indian women’s hockey team in Hindi cinema.
After contestant Bablu Kumar Pandit correctly named Shah Rukh Khan, Big B elaborated on the three memorable character portrayals connected to the question. He noted that Shah Rukh played NASA scientist Mohan Bhargava in Ashutosh Gowariker’s Swades, Indian Air Force pilot Veer Pratap Singh in Yash Chopra’s Veer-Zaara, and iconic hockey coach Kabir Khan in Chak De! India. Focusing specifically on Swades, Amitabh Bachchan expressed his admiration in Hindi, sharing that in his opinion, the acting Shah Rukh delivered in Swades was truly supreme and exceptional. He added that every time he crosses paths with Shah Rukh Khan, he makes sure to remind him of how deeply impressed he was by his performance in that movie.
The gesture resonated strongly with fans of both cinema icons, bringing attention back to Ashutosh Gowariker’s 2004 drama Swades, which is widely celebrated as one of the finest and most subtle performances in Shah Rukh Khan’s career. Starring debutante Gayatri Joshi alongside Shah Rukh Khan and featuring a soundtrack by A.R. Rahman, the story follows a successful NRI scientist who returns to a rural Indian village and becomes deeply engaged in its social upliftment and development. With Kaun Banega Crorepati 18 launching on television, the veteran host continues to win hearts by sharing engaging cinematic trivia, personal anecdotes, and genuine appreciation for fellow actors on the national stage.
