Actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has once again stirred controversy following a fresh clarification regarding her recent remarks about student demonstrations held at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. The actor-turned-politician originally faced severe backlash after criticizing a section of protesters over alleged abusive language and calling certain viral protest videos puke-inducing, referring to specific participants as Generation Gutter. Addressing political opposition leaders and critics who accused her of insulting India’s entire youth population, Kangana took to her Instagram Stories to release a detailed video message defending her position and challenging the narrative that the demonstration was an exclusive youth movement.
In her video address, Kangana directly questioned the labeling of the demonstration over the NEET-UG paper leak as a Gen Z protest, pointing out that the demographics at the venue did not support such a claim. She stated that while India’s total Gen Z population stands at nearly 30 to 35 crore, only around 10,000 people had gathered at Jantar Mantar during the agitation. Kangana claimed that out of the total crowd, more than half belonged to older age groups similar to veteran actress Shabana Azmi, who had also joined the protest site. She estimated that actual Gen Z youth numbered only around 2,000 among the crowd, openly asking how political commentators could frame the event as a nationwide youth uprising.
Issuing an open challenge to her political detractors, Kangana denied being anti-youth and asserted that she considers herself a part of the younger generation as well. She clarified that her criticism was specifically directed at the disruptive conduct and offensive behavior witnessed in viral videos from that specific crowd rather than the country’s entire younger generation. The actress highlighted that prominent figures like 75-year-old Shabana Azmi and actor Prakash Raj participated in the demonstration, proving that individuals across diverse age groups were present. As political debates continue to unfold surrounding the fallout from the Jantar Mantar demonstrations, Kangana maintained that she stands by her specific observations and urged critics not to push a misleading agenda against her.
