South Korean actor Hong Mingi, best known for his roles in popular K-dramas such as Love Your Enemy and Study Group, has been embroiled in a major controversy after an influencer ex-girlfriend publicly accused him of dating violence, physical assault, threats, and emotional abuse. The allegations first surfaced on social media when the influencer, identified online as “A,” shared a detailed account of her relationship alongside a certified legal document titled “Notice of Legal Action for Illegal Criminal Acts” sent through a law firm. She alleged that during their relationship, which began in April 2026, the 24-year-old actor exhibited extreme jealousy and abusive behavior, including throwing a soju bottle at her on a street, hitting her shoulder, shoving her, and grabbing her neck. She also claimed he secretly accessed her private messages and made over 40 frantic phone calls accompanied by death threats when he suspected her of seeing another man.
As the public controversy deepened, further distressing personal details emerged from both sides, significantly escalating the fallout. The ex-girlfriend revealed on her social media that she underwent an abortion alone in July after discovering she was pregnant, alleging that Hong reacted with hostility to the news and pressured her to terminate the pregnancy before cutting off contact. Additionally, she accused him of drunk driving on an electric scooter with her as a passenger, leading to an accident that left her injured, as well as mistreating his pet dog. Addressing her decision to go public, she stated that she was not seeking gossip or media attention, but rather a sincere acknowledgment of wrongdoing and a basic apology from the actor, explaining that the severe emotional toll had left her suffering from night sweats, anxiety, and sleeplessness.
In response to the mounting outrage, Hong Mingi’s agency, Fable Company, issued a strong statement firmly denying the allegations and announcing plans to take legal action. The agency claimed that the relationship ended due to a breach of trust after Hong discovered she was in contact with an ex-boyfriend, and counter-accused the influencer of stalking behavior, including visiting his house late at night, kicking his door, and obstructing security cameras. The influencer promptly rejected the stalking claims, maintaining that she only attempted to contact him to seek a minimal apology for the harm caused. Meanwhile, representatives for the upcoming TVING series Study Group 2, where Hong recently completed filming, stated they are closely monitoring the legal situation, as both sides prepare for potential civil and criminal proceedings.
