The Indian film industry is on high alert following a late-night shooting incident outside the residence of celebrated filmmaker Rohit Shetty. In response, the Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) has formally reached out to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, seeking his urgent intervention to ensure the safety of the creative community.

In the early hours of Sunday, February 1, 2026, unidentified bike-borne assailants fired at least five rounds at “Shetty Tower,” the director’s multi-storey residence in Juhu. Fortunately, while Rohit Shetty and his family were inside at the time, no injuries were reported. Bullet shells were later recovered from the first floor and the exterior walls of the building.

Mumbai Police and forensic teams arrived at the scene shortly after the shots were heard. Security has since been significantly tightened around the filmmaker’s home, with additional personnel and barricades deployed to prevent further threats.

The IFTDA issued a strongly worded statement expressing “shock and deep concern” over the targeted attack on one of Bollywood’s most iconic directors. The association emphasized that such incidents create a dangerous environment for artists and technicians alike.

“We appeal to our Honourable Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis Ji to personally look into the matter,” the IFTDA statement read. “This grave incident should not be allowed to shake the morale and confidence of the entertainment industry.”

The directors’ body also expressed their faith in the Mumbai Police, urging them to take “swift and strict action” to identify the masterminds behind the shooting and provide 24/7 protection for Shetty and his family.

The Mumbai Crime Branch, working alongside the Pune Police, has already made significant progress. Four suspects—identified as Swapnil Sakat, Siddharth Yenpure, Aditya Gayaki, and Samarth Pomaji—were detained in Pune and brought to Mumbai for questioning.

Initial reports suggest a possible link to organized crime. A social media post allegedly from an associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the firing. The post claimed that Shetty had been “warned” previously to stay out of certain matters, though police are still verifying the authenticity of these claims and investigating the exact motive.

Rohit Shetty has reportedly been cooperating fully with the investigation. Sources close to the director say he has requested friends and colleagues from the film fraternity to avoid visiting his home for the time being to allow the police to conduct their probe without disruption.

This incident follows a string of similar threats against high-profile Bollywood personalities, leading to renewed calls for a comprehensive security review for the city’s film stars and producers. To know such latest updates tuned to tellyboosters.com Thank you!
