On the bustling film sets of Borivali, where the high-octane action of the upcoming thriller Gunmaaster G9 is currently being captured, a unique tradition is taking center stage. While the film promises intense drama and gritty sequences starring Emraan Hashmi and Genelia Deshmukh, director Aditya Datt has revealed that the project is anchored by a philosophy he calls the “religion of work.”
In an era where film sets are often viewed as high-pressure environments, Datt has implemented a practice of daily interfaith prayers before the cameras roll. This ritual, which includes prayers from various faiths, aims to ensure that every crew member—regardless of their personal beliefs—feels a sense of belonging and respect.
A Tradition Rooted in Inclusivity
According to the director, this practice wasn’t a marketing strategy but an instinctive evolution that began during the filming of his 2013 hit Table No. 21.
“From my very first film, the day’s shoot has always begun with a Ganpati aarti,” Datt explained in a recent interview. “But in 2013, I felt a shift. I asked for prayers from other faiths to be included as well. Suddenly, people from different backgrounds and homes felt truly seen. The energy on set changed completely.”
Datt believes that this atmosphere of mutual respect directly impacts the quality of the film. “It isn’t just a ritual; it’s a reminder that before we are part of the cinema industry, we are human beings sharing faith and respect. On my set, we are all united by the religion of work.”
The Power Trio Returns
Gunmaaster G9 marks a significant “full-circle” moment for the Indian film industry. It reunites the powerhouse trio of Emraan Hashmi, director Aditya Datt, and music composer Himesh Reshammiya—nearly 20 years after they defined a generation with the cult classic Aashiq Banaya Aapne.
Producer Deepak Mukut, head of Soham Rockstar Entertainment, emphasized that this culture of inclusivity starts from the top. “When people feel respected and welcomed, it shows in their work,” Mukut stated. He described the film as a “slick and emotional” action drama that balances mass appeal with deep-rooted human values.
What to Expect from Gunmaaster G9
The film features a fresh pairing in Emraan Hashmi and Genelia Deshmukh, alongside Aparshakti Khurana. Early glimpses of the film have already sparked curiosity, with Hashmi reportedly playing a “gun-toting doodhwala” (milkman) and Genelia taking on a fierce role that moves beyond her traditional “girl-next-door” image.
The film stars Emraan Hashmi and Genelia Deshmukh and Aparshakti Khurana in lead roles. Director by Aditya Datt the film’s music is given by Himesh Reshammiya. It is expected to release in 2026.
Despite recent production delays caused by unpredictable weather in North India, the team remains committed to their vision. For Datt, the goal is simple: to create a landmark film where the harmony behind the scenes is as powerful as the story on the screen. To know such latest
