Former Miss Universe and Bollywood actor Lara Dutta Bhupathi has shared a moving update from Dubai, where she and her daughter, Saira, are currently stranded following a massive escalation in the Israel-Iran conflict.
In a heartfelt video message that has since gone viral, a visibly emotional Dutta described the harrowing experience of hearing “loud booms” and watching fighter jets streak across the sky while she was working at a local studio.

A Sudden Escalation
Lara, who has called Dubai her second home for the last three years, was in the city for a brand commitment when the region was thrust into turmoil. The situation intensified following a series of military strikes on February 28, which led to retaliatory drone and missile activity across several Gulf nations.

“I can’t lie, it has been stressful. We are nervous and it has been scary,” Lara shared, her voice occasionally wavering. “There are lots of fighter jets flying overhead and loud booms that make the windows shake and the doors rattle. It is deeply unnerving.”

Safe But Stranded
Despite the terrifying sounds of war, the actor was quick to praise the local authorities for their efforts to maintain order. She noted that while her husband, tennis legend Mahesh Bhupathi, is currently away for work, she and her daughter have felt physically protected.

Gratitude for the UAE: Lara expressed deep appreciation for the UAE government, stating that residents are being looked after regardless of their nationality. A Mother’s Concern: She admitted that the “nervous energy” of the situation prompted her to speak out, especially as her daughter and other children in the area are feeling the weight of the uncertainty.

Flight Complications: The actor revealed that they have been trying to secure a flight back to Mumbai, but options are currently non-existent as regional airspace remains restricted.

“No One Deserves to Live in Fear”
The most emotional moment of the update came when Lara spoke about those less fortunate than herself. While she is searching for a way home, she expressed her heartbreak for the everyday workers—gardeners, delivery riders, and laborers—who do not have the option to leave.

Drawing a parallel to her experiences in India, she said, “No civilian deserves to live in fear or be caught up in a war that is destabilizing an entire region.” She concluded with a plea for “common sense and better judgment” to prevail among global leaders so that peace can be restored.

As of Wednesday evening, Lara and her daughter remain in their Dubai residence, waiting for a safe window to return to India. To
