Bollywood superstar Alia Bhatt has officially confirmed that the filming for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s highly anticipated magnum opus, Love and War, is reaching its final stages.
Speaking on the sidelines of Milan Fashion Week, where she appeared as a global ambassador for Gucci, the actress provided a long-awaited update on the production status of the period drama. Bhatt described the filming process as a “magical experience,” marking her second collaboration with the visionary director following her National Award-winning performance in Gangubai Kathiawadi.
“I am working on a movie currently called Love & War. We are at the tail end of filming,” Bhatt told Vogue Italia. “Working with Sanjay sir is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I am so grateful that I get to do it.”
A Star-Studded Reunion
The film has been the talk of the industry since its announcement, primarily due to its “casting coup” of the decade. Love and War brings together Alia Bhatt with her husband, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal.
This project is particularly significant for Ranbir Kapoor, as it reunites him with Bhansali nearly two decades after his debut in Saawariya (2007). The trio previously shared the screen in the 2018 hit Sanju, though they did not all appear in the same sequences. In this wartime romance, they are set to play lead roles in what is described as a complex and emotional love triangle.
Production Hurdles and Budget
While the finish line is in sight, the journey hasn’t been without its challenges. Recent industry reports suggest that the filming schedule was extended by nearly 50 days to accommodate Bhansali’s meticulous attention to detail.
Sources close to the production indicate that while the “tail end” of filming is underway, several major sequences—including three high-scale musical numbers—are still being polished. This dedication to perfection has reportedly pushed the film’s production budget to an estimated ₹350–425 crore, making it one of the most expensive projects in Indian cinema history.
Release Date Speculation
Despite the progress, the exact release date remains a moving target. Originally slated for a Christmas 2025 release, the film was pushed to March 2026. However, in a recent Instagram Live session, Ranbir Kapoor hinted that the timeline might shift again to 2027 to avoid clashing with other major releases, including his own mythological epic, Ramayana: Part One.
Currently, trade analysts suggest the film is eyeing a January 2027 release to coincide with Republic Day, allowing for an extensive post-production and VFX phase.
What’s Next for Alia?
As she wraps up Love and War, Alia Bhatt’s schedule remains packed. Fans will see her next in the YRF Spy Universe film Alpha, alongside Sharvari Wagh, which is scheduled for release in April 2026. To know such latest updates tuned tellyboosters.com Thank you!
