The casting couch for Nitesh Tiwari’s magnum opus, Ramayana, continues to spring surprises. In the latest development that has sent social media into a frenzy, reports suggest that Faisal Malik, widely beloved for his heartwarming portrayal of Prahlad “Prahladcha” Pandey in the hit series Panchayat, has bagged the pivotal role of Kumbhkaran.

A Massive Career Leap
For an actor known for his grounded, small-town performances, stepping into the shoes of the legendary sleeping giant of Lanka is a monumental shift. According to industry insiders, Malik’s physical stature and “heavily built frame” were key factors in the casting decision, as the director sought someone who could naturally project the formidable presence of Ravana’s younger brother.

Interestingly, for months, rumors had linked Bollywood veteran Bobby Deol to the role. However, it appears the makers have pivoted toward Malik to bring a fresh, authentic energy to the character.

Filming and High-Octane VFX
Reports indicate that Malik hasn’t just signed the dotted line—he’s already been on set. The actor has reportedly wrapped up the first shooting schedule at Prime Focus Studios in Mumbai.

Key highlights of the shoot include:
Introductory Scenes: Malik filmed his character’s grand introduction alongside Kannada superstar Yash, who portrays the demon king, Ravana.

International Standards: The sequences were reportedly filmed with an international action crew and are described as being “heavy on graphics,” with a visual scale comparable to Hollywood blockbusters like Avatar.

The War Sequence: While his introduction is complete, the major battle portions involving Kumbhkaran are slated to be filmed during the production of the second installment.

An All-Star Ensemble
Nitesh Tiwari is leaving no stone unturned for what is being called the most expensive Indian film ever made.

The Road Ahead
The Ramayana duology is being produced on a staggering budget, with reports suggesting figures upward of 4,000 crore for the two-part project. With a background score by the legendary duo of A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, the film aims to be a global cinematic event.

While the makers have remained tight-lipped and have yet to release an official confirmation, the buzz surrounding “Prahladcha” taking on the role of the mighty warrior has added a layer of excitement for fans of both the actor and the epic.

Ramayana: Part 1 is currently slated for a Diwali 2026 release, followed by the second part in 2027. To know such latest
