In the glitzy world of Bollywood, where a five-second viral clip can spawn a thousand rumors, veteran comedian Rajpal Yadav has stepped forward to clear the air. Addressing a recent “controversy” involving superstar Akshay Kumar, Yadav has not only dismissed claims of a rift but has painted a picture of a deep, brotherly bond that spans over two decades.
The clarification comes as the duo prepares for their highly anticipated reunion in the horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan.
The Viral Video: Misunderstanding or Malice?
The “silence” was broken following a viral video from a recent promotional event. In the clip, Akshay Kumar appeared to “push” or ask Rajpal Yadav to move to the side while posing for a group photo with Ekta Kapoor, Priyanka Chahar Choudhary, and Kanika Mann. Social media was quick to judge, with many netizens labeling the gesture as disrespectful toward the senior comedian.
However, Rajpal Yadav laughed off these claims in a recent interview with ANI, explaining that what looked like a “shove” from a distance was actually a lesson in etiquette and moral values.
“Akshay Paji was simply telling me that we should keep the women in the middle, while he and I stand on either side,” Yadav clarified. “This is actually the deep-rooted moral value of Akshay Paji. I don’t know what people thought from a distance, but he always gives prominence to women in group settings.”
A Chemistry Built on Slaps and Shouts
While fans were worried about a “push” in real life, Yadav revealed that the onscreen “violence” in Bhooth Bangla is even more intense—and entirely choreographed by Akshay himself.
In a playful nod to their 2007 hit Bhool Bhulaiyaa, where Akshay’s character famously slapped Yadav’s “Chhota Pandit,” the new film features a scene where Rajpal slaps Akshay.
The Improvisation: Yadav revealed that the slap was not originally in the script. It was Akshay Kumar’s idea to add it during rehearsals to enhance the comedy.
The Coordination: Yadav described their working relationship like a well-oiled machine. “It’s like cricket; if he throws the ball a certain way, I know exactly how to swing the bat,” he said.
“He Loves Me, I Love Him”
Reflecting on a journey that started with Mujhse Shaadi Karogi in 2003 and evolved through cult classics like Hera Pheri and Khatta Meetha, Yadav emphasized that their relationship is beyond professional.
“From 2003 to 2026, we must have shouted at each other ten times and rehearsed ten times,” Yadav shared warmly. “In life, he loves me, I love him, and I am inspired by him. We respect each other’s craft immensely.”
Looking Ahead: Bhooth Bangla
The duo is set to bring back the “Priyan-Akki-Rajpal” magic on April 10, 2026. With a star-studded cast including Tabu, Paresh Rawal, and Wamiqa Gabbi, the film marks the return of the trio that defined the golden era of Bollywood comedies. For Rajpal Yadav, who recently faced legal hurdles, this film feels like a “rebirth,” and his camaraderie with Akshay Kumar is clearly the fuel for his second innings. To
