Bollywood veteran Akshay Kumar has once again shown that he isn’t afraid to address social media chatter head-on. During a recent promotional event for his upcoming film Bhooth Bangla, the 58-year-old actor addressed the 26-year age difference between himself and his co-star, Wamiqa Gabbi, with his trademark candor and a touch of wit.
“Toh Kya Hai?” – The Actor’s Direct Response
The debate sparked when fans noticed the romantic pairing in the film’s promotional material and songs. When asked about the age gap, Akshay reportedly responded with a simple, “Toh kya hai?”.
He pointed out that such pairings are common in both global cinema and real life. “Haven’t we seen this before? It happens in Hollywood as well,” Akshay remarked. He further explained that casting is often a requirement of the script and that in the real world, many couples have significant age differences.
Director Priyadarshan Weighs In
Adding to the conversation, director Priyadarshan emphasized the concept of “screen age” versus “chronological age.” He noted that what matters most is how actors embody their characters.
“An actor’s screen age may not be his real age, but people accept you for your screen age too. When I shoot with Akshay, I never feel there is an issue because of the character he plays,” the director stated.
