In a move that has captured the attention of the Indian film industry, acclaimed director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has showered high praise on the latest action thriller, Dhurandhar: The Revenge.

The filmmaker, currently in the United States, revealed on social media that he traveled specifically from the California countryside to Los Angeles just to catch a screening of the film. Directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, the movie has been dominating the box office and winning over critics alike.

A “Benchmark” for Modern Cinema
Taking to X Agnihotri didn’t hold back his admiration, describing the film as “brilliant” and a “masterpiece.” He noted that the quality of the work speaks for itself, stating:

“I genuinely don’t know what to say… anything I add may only become noise over something that already speaks for itself. I’d rather call you.”

Agnihotri specifically highlighted the technical synergy of the film, pointing out two often-overlooked departments that he believes elevated the project to a world-class level:
Cinematography: Handled by Vikash Nowlakha.
Production Design: Led by Saini Johray.
He argued that when the camera and the design are in such perfect harmony, it creates a “pure synergy” that will serve as a benchmark for Indian cinema for years to come.

The “Vicious” Ecosystem Warning
While the review was overwhelmingly positive, the Kashmir Files director concluded his message with a sobering piece of “unsolicited advice” for Aditya Dhar. Drawing from his own polarized experiences in Bollywood, Agnihotri warned the young director about the nature of the industry.

“You are sharp, and you know your path,” Agnihotri wrote. “Just stay mindful of the ecosystem; it can be as vicious as it is seductive.”

Social Media Stir
The praise comes at an interesting time. Just days prior, social media was abuzz with rumors that Agnihotri had “liked” a video by YouTuber Dhruv Rathee that allegedly labeled the film as propaganda. His glowing review and “Shabash” (Well done) to the team seem to have put those rumors to rest, though some netizens continue to debate his “double-sided” engagement on the platform.

Regardless of the social media chatter, Agnihotri’s endorsement adds significant weight to the film’s credentials as it continues its record-breaking run. He ended his note with a simple shout-out: “And everyone else in Team Dhurandhar, you rock.” To
