The official trailer for the highly anticipated dark comedy Toaster was released today, giving fans a first look at the chaotic and hilarious world of Ramakant, a man whose obsession with saving money leads to a series of increasingly bizarre events. Starring Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra, the film is set to premiere on Netflix on April 15, 2026.

A Quest for a Wedding Gift
The trailer introduces us to Ramakant (Rajkummar Rao), a man who takes “frugality” to a whole new level. Labeled as the ultimate kanjoos Ramakant tracks every single rupee with religious fervor. The plot kicks into high gear when, at his wife’s (Sanya Malhotra) insistence, he reluctantly buys a ₹5,500 toaster as a wedding gift for a couple.

However, the trouble begins when the newlyweds decide to divorce almost immediately after the ceremony. Hearing the news, Ramakant decides that since the marriage didn’t last, his gift shouldn’t either. He embarks on a “mission” to retrieve the toaster—only to find out it has already been donated to charity.

What follows is a wild goose chase involving a local don, an orphanage, and a series of misunderstandings that somehow escalate into a murder mystery.

A Personal Project for Rajkummar Rao
This film holds special significance for Rajkummar Rao as it marks the first production under his and Patralekhaa’s banner, Kampa Film. Speaking about the character of Ramakant, Rao shared:

“What really drew me to Toaster was how something so small can completely take over a person’s mind. Ramakant doesn’t see his actions as extreme; he sees them as practical. Watching that sincerity spiral into chaos is what makes the film so entertaining.”

Sanya Malhotra, who reunites with Rao after their successful collaborations in Ludo and HIT: The First Case, plays his exasperated wife, who often finds herself caught in the crossfire of his penny-pinching schemes.

Powerhouse Ensemble Cast
Directed by Vivek Das Chaudhary, the film boasts a stellar supporting cast that promises to bring the house down with comedic timing:
Abhishek Banerjee in a quirky comic role.
Archana Puran Singh and Seema Pahwa adding their signature wit.
Farah Khan in a surprise appearance at an orphanage.
Upendra Limaye, Vinod Rawat, and Jitendra Joshi in key roles.

Production and Release
Originally announced in 2024, the film has seen a few changes, including Sanya Malhotra stepping in for the lead female role. Produced by Patralekhaa, who recently welcomed a daughter with Rao, the project is described as an “irreverent dark comedy” with plenty of twists and turns.

Toaster will be available for streaming exclusively on Netflix starting April 15. For fans of mindless yet sharp situational comedy, this looks like the perfect mid-month watch. To know such latest updates tuned tellyboosters.com Thank you!
