Actor and politician Ravi Kishan has stepped forward to strongly defend the recently released film Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh. Despite the movie’s massive success at the box office, it has faced criticism from a section of the audience and critics who have labeled it as “propaganda.”

Addressing the controversy, Kishan dismissed the claims, stating that the film is simply a reflection of real-world events. He criticized the growing trend of labeling every socially or politically relevant film as propaganda, using his signature wit to describe the phenomenon.

“A New Trend of Pigeons”
In a recent interaction, the Maamla Legal Hai star expressed his frustration with the backlash. “Calling it a propaganda film is very wrong,” Kishan stated. “A new trend has started of calling films propaganda—ek naya kabootar pakad liye hain log.”

He urged the industry and audiences to support the film, pointing out that actors from the South Indian film industries have openly backed the project. Kishan argued that the film has helped “revive” the industry and provides a livelihood for lakhs of people, making the criticism feel unfair to the hard work put in by the crew.

Cinematic Brilliance vs. Reality
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar 2 has been a juggernaut at the box office, recently crossing the ₹1000 crore milestone. Kishan attributed this success to its technical strengths—specifically its background music, editing, and the high-energy performances.

Defending the film’s narrative, which touches upon sensitive topics like demonetization and national security, Kishan said:
“Cinema is a mirror of society. When Parliament was attacked, no one said anything. Now, people are making statements. Cinema presents what is happening in society. In fact, we need to correct our history through research—those pages that were torn away. That truth needs to be brought in front of the people.”

Addressing the Plagiarism and Image Controversies
The propaganda debate isn’t the only hurdle the film has faced. Recently, filmmaker Santosh Kumar RS claimed the script was plagiarized from his 2023 work. Additionally, director Aditya Dhar had to clarify that a viral image of Ranveer Singh’s character smoking in a turban was “AI-generated fake news” intended to stir religious controversy.

Despite these hurdles, the support from veterans like Ravi Kishan suggests that the industry is digging in its heels. Kishan even joked about his own career, saying he has no “FOMO” but would have loved to play a role in the film if given the chance, specifically eyeing the character Hazma.
