The upcoming Gujarati film Dhabkaaro is already creating a massive buzz in the industry even before its official release. At a star-studded special screening held recently in Mumbai, the film left several Bollywood bigwigs deeply moved, with superstar Aamir Khan visibly emotional after watching the performance of his long-time friend and colleague, Deven Bhojani.

Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Abhishek Shah, who is well-known for the cinematic masterpiece Hellaro, Dhabkaaro is being hailed as a “golden film” by those who attended the premiere. The story follows the life of Ashok Patel, played by Deven Bhojani, a hardened and morally ambiguous businessman. The narrative takes an emotional turn as his character undergoes a profound transformation, evolving into a compassionate human being while seeking forgiveness for his past.

Deven Bhojani, who has spent decades making audiences laugh with his impeccable comic timing in shows like Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Baa Bahoo Aur Baby, has completely shed his comedic persona for this role. His nuanced portrayal of a man on a journey of redemption is being called one of the finest performances of his career.

Aamir Khan, who shares a bond with Deven dating back to their college days and their work together in the classic Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, was seen wiping away tears as he exited the theater. Speaking to the media after the screening, Aamir praised the film’s depth and storytelling.

“Deven is the lead actor of this film, and it is a truly wonderful story. It is a golden film. I came out of the theater crying,” Aamir shared, clearly touched by the emotional weight of the movie.

The screening was not just a film showcase but also a celebration of Deven’s long-standing relationships within the fraternity. Apart from Aamir Khan, the event was attended by notable figures including Mansoor Khan, Ashutosh Gowariker, Avinash Gowariker, Sajid Nadiadwala, and Vipul Amrutlal Shah. Other prominent names like Shefali Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Jaaved Jaaferi, and Junaid Khan were also present to support the veteran actor.

Deven Bhojani expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming response from his peers. He noted that having friends from films, OTT, and theater come together for his film made him feel as though no time had passed. He mentioned that he specifically wanted to celebrate this project with them because it features a character unlike anything he has played before.

Dhabkaaro marks a significant milestone for Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment as it is the legendary production house’s first venture into Gujarati cinema. The film is produced in collaboration with The Moving Manch and Harfanmaula Films, further highlighting the growing interest of major production houses in regional storytelling.

Scheduled for a theatrical release on May 1, 2026, coinciding with Gujarat Divas, the film also stars Aarjav Trivedi, Kumud Mishra, and Tejal Panchasara. With the viral reactions from the industry and the high praise from a perfectionist like Aamir Khan, expectations for Dhabkaaro among the general audience are now sky-high. To
