Actor Abhishek Banerjee has officially stepped down from his role as a co-founder and casting director at Casting Bay, ending a decade-long journey with the casting agency he established alongside Anmol Ahuja. Opening up about his decision, the acclaimed actor revealed that balancing an increasingly demanding shooting schedule with the administrative duties of running a company had become nearly impossible. He emphasized that casting requires a person’s physical presence in audition rooms, and because he could no longer give the business his full time and energy, he felt it was best to step back completely and let younger talent lead the firm forward.
Addressing another major factor behind his exit, Abhishek admitted that questions regarding a potential conflict of interest had been raised ever since his acting career took off. Although he clarified that his acting and casting duties rarely overlapped on the same projects, he felt it was vital to establish a clear boundary between his two professional identities. Rather than allowing any ambiguity to persist, he chose to step down to avoid conflict of interest entirely, choosing to prioritize his primary identity as an actor.
Despite retiring from Casting Bay, the Stree and Paatal Lok actor emphasized that he is not abandoning the casting fraternity altogether. While he does not plan to work as a casting director again, he hopes to contribute to building a more organized and democratic platform for casting professionals in the future. Looking ahead, Abhishek is shifting his focus toward expanding his creative horizons through acting, writing, and producing, with major upcoming projects like Mirzapur: The Movie set to keep him busy on screen.
