Popular actor Ankur Ratan, known for his performances in notable web series like Mai, recently shared a harrowing personal experience of narrowly escaping the catastrophic flash floods that hit Nepal. The actor was traveling through the region as part of a 28-member pilgrimage group heading toward the sacred Mount Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Ratan revealed that he, along with his wife Shilpa Suchak and her cousin Sonali Kapadia, had been standing and taking photographs at the exact location in Rasuwa district merely 12 to 16 hours before torrential waters devastated the entire landscape. The unexpected natural calamity swept away roads and infrastructure, leaving hundreds dead and many others missing across the affected border areas. Expressing deep disbelief and shock over the fortunate timing of their movement, the actor noted how surreal it felt to realize that their hotel was located just a short distance from the eventual epicenter of the disaster.
The pilgrimage group, organized under the banner of SAAD Mountaineers from Maharashtra, had fortunately reached the safety of Saga town, situated at an elevation of over 15,000 feet, right before the deadly surge struck the lower transit points. While discussing the intense emotional impact of the incident, Ankur Ratan mentioned that the experience left him feeling profound relief mixed with heavy sorrow for the local victims and stranded travelers. The actor reflected on his family connection to the yatra, sharing that his mother-in-law had completed the arduous Kailash circuit decades earlier, which inspired his own journey. Despite the tragic surroundings and logistics disruptions in the surrounding regions, Ratan expressed his intention to complete the sacred 52-kilometer trek as a humble personal tribute to the lives lost in the sudden environmental disaster.
