Emraan Hashmi’s highly anticipated action drama Awarapan 2 has officially crossed the coveted ₹100 crore benchmark at the domestic box office within its first six days of release, solidifying its position as a major theatrical success. The sequel to the 2007 cult classic kicked off its box office journey with a strong opening of ₹22 crore on Friday, followed by a massive surge to ₹33.75 crore on Saturday and another ₹26 crore on Sunday, driven by heavy Independence Day weekend footfalls. While the film held remarkably well during the initial weekdays with ₹9.25 crore on Monday and ₹9.75 crore on Tuesday, it experienced a natural mid-week decline on Day 6, pulling in around ₹3.93 crore net. This brings the total domestic net collection to over ₹104 crore, with the worldwide gross total comfortably surpassing ₹124 crore.
Despite the expected mid-week drop in theater occupancy, Awarapan 2 has already emerged as a massive financial winner, having comfortably doubled its reported production budget of ₹45 crore in less than a week. The film’s stellar performance marks a monumental career milestone for Emraan Hashmi, delivering his highest-grossing solo hit to date as he returns to his signature intense persona. Directed by Nitin Kakkar and co-starring Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi, the romantic action thriller continues to lead the box office race over competing releases like Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947, positioning itself for a strong second weekend as word of mouth remains steady among action fans.
