The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has announced a major restructuring of the Central Board of Film Certification, appointing a fresh panel of eighteen members to guide Indian cinema’s regulatory landscape for the next three years.

This significant update brings together a diverse mix of acclaimed actors, filmmakers, musicians, and cultural figures who will work under the statutory body to streamline film classification across the nation. The newly formed committee includes high-profile Bollywood stars such as Preity Zinta, Pankaj Tripathi, and Suniel Shetty, alongside celebrated television favorite Roopali Ganguly and award-winning actor Pallavi Joshi.

The extensive list of eighteen members reflects a broad representation from various creative fields and regional entertainment industries. Joining Preity Zinta, Roopali Ganguly, Pallavi Joshi, and Pankaj Tripathi on the advisory board are distinguished personalities including veteran actor Prosenjit Chatterjee, actor Manoj Joshi, acclaimed filmmaker Priyadarshan, and Grammy Award-winning composer Ricky Kej.

The new panel also features filmmaker Nila Madhab Panda, director Abhishek Jain, producer Supriya Yarlagadda, Marathi actress Nishigandha Wad, singer and former politician Hansraj Hans, film critic Vinod Anupam, and poet Yatindra Mishra, while theatre personality Waman Kendre and writer Ramesh Patange have been retained from the previous board.

This major overhaul comes after a prolonged gap, replacing the previous panel that was originally formed back in August 2017. Operating under Section 3(1) of the Cinematograph Act of 1952, the revamped board takes charge immediately to evaluate, certify, and guide film releases while balancing artistic freedom with public sensibilities.

Industry insiders expect this fresh mix of modern performers, seasoned directors, and technical experts to bring a balanced, contemporary approach to film certification standards in India.
