Actor Imran Khan, who has been increasingly vocal about his perspective on cinema and masculinity, recently took to social media to share his glowing review of the newly released action-thriller Dacoit: Ek Prem Katha. The film, which stars Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur, premiered in theaters on April 10, 2026, and has quickly become a talking point for its unique take on the revenge genre.

Attending a special screening to support his cousin, Zayn Marie Khan, who plays a pivotal role as a police officer in the movie, Imran expressed deep admiration for the film’s narrative choices. In an era where action cinema is often criticized for its portrayal of aggressive masculinity, Imran highlighted Dacoit as a breath of fresh air.

Sharing his thoughts on Instagram, the *Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na* star praised the film for being “refreshingly free of toxic tropes.” He noted that while the movie is an intense saga of love and betrayal, it treats its characters with a level of emotional depth rarely seen in mainstream action dramas.

Imran was particularly moved by Adivi Sesh’s performance, describing the actor as “charming, smoldering, and heartbreakingly vulnerable.” He noted that Sesh managed to portray a convict seeking retribution without falling into the clichés of the “invincible hero.”

The film, directed by debutant Shaneil Deo, features a powerhouse cast including Mrunal Thakur, Atul Kulkarni, and Prakash Raj. Imran was quick to credit Mrunal for her versatile performance, stating that she transitioned seamlessly from “maternal tenderness to raw, emotional grit.”

However, for Imran, the standout performer was undoubtedly his cousin, Zayn Marie Khan.
“Atul Kulkarni and Prakash Raj are wonderful as always. But for me, the top star is my darling Zayn Marie… watching you on the big screen made this big brother very proud,” Imran wrote in his heartfelt post.

Zayn Marie, the daughter of acclaimed filmmaker Mansoor Khan, has previously spoken about the close bond she shares with Imran, often citing him as a primary influence in her acting career. Her portrayal of a tough, no-nonsense cop in Dacoit marks a significant milestone in her journey.

Dacoit: Ek Prem Katha is a bilingual film shot in both Hindi and Telugu. It follows the story of two former lovers who are forced to reunite under extraordinary circumstances involving a series of robberies. As the plot unfolds, it explores themes of deceit and the gray areas of morality, moving beyond the simple “good vs. evil” binary.

The film’s release was strategically shifted to April 10 to avoid a direct clash with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, a move that seems to have paid off as word-of-mouth recommendations from industry figures like Imran Khan and Nani continue to build momentum.

With its blend of high-speed chases and an emotionally charged script co-written by Adivi Sesh, Dacoit is currently playing in theaters nationwide, carving out its own space as a “blockbuster with all heart.” To know such
