Bollywood star Kiara Advani has shared some fascinating behind-the-scenes insights into the intense filming process of her highly anticipated gangster drama, Toxic: A Tale for Grown-Ups. In a recent candid interview with Bombay Times, the actress opened up about the unique working style of national award-winning director Geetu Mohandas, revealing a specific rule that completely altered her regular morning routine on the movie set. Kiara confessed that she is naturally a very warm, bubbly, and expressive person who loves walking onto a set with high energy, cheerfully calling out morning pleasantries and greeting her team and co-stars. However, to help her completely immerse herself into the complex emotional headspace of her character, Nadia, the director strictly forbade her from engaging in any casual small talk or exchanging friendly greetings upon her arrival, instructing her to skip the pleasantries entirely and stay focused in her creative zone.

The actress admitted that surrendering to this quiet, isolated atmosphere was deeply essential because the highly anticipated action venture challenged her conventional understanding of relationships and traditional man-woman dynamics. Kiara explained that when Geetu Mohandas originally narrated the script to her, it took a significant amount of time to fully comprehend the dark, morally grey, and unconventional world the story is set in, describing the movie as a complete raw drama that heavily explores the concept of finding true liberation in love. The director, who is a founding member of the Women in Cinema Collective, has previously highly praised Kiara’s silent dedication, stating in separate interactions that the character of Nadia beautifully embodies a rare balance of fragility and ferocity, making the actress her first and absolute choice for the role.

Adding to the intense acting challenges on set, Kiara revealed that Toxic marks the very first time in her career where she had to shoot scenes simultaneously in both English and Kannada, which put her language skills to the ultimate test. The actress detailed a particularly stressful yet rewarding morning when the creative team handed her three pages of completely revamped Kannada dialogues right before the camera rolled because they had rewritten the lines overnight to make them feel significantly more powerful. Despite not knowing the language natively and being forced to frantically memorize the complex script right there in her vanity van, Kiara credited the strict mental isolation zone enforced by her director for giving her the focus needed to wrap up a complicated two-day sequence in just a single day, resulting in what she proudly considers one of the absolute best performances of her cinematic journey.

Mounted on a massive, spectacular budget of over seven hundred crore rupees by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, the pan-Indian film features a stellar ensemble cast including South superstar Yash in a prominent dual role, alongside Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth. The heavily discussed project has consistently stayed in the media spotlight for various reasons, including a wave of false internet rumors claiming Kiara had requested the makers to trim down certain bold romantic sequences with Yash, which the actress swiftly slammed on her social media handles as absolute nonsense. While escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and scheduling shifts alongside other major action releases like Dhurandhar 2 have caused the theatrical debut to be adjusted across global distribution markets, the massive online buzz surrounding the film’s gritty narrative proof that the anticipation among moviegoers remains incredibly high.
