The wait is finally over! The makers of Tumbbad have dropped a mega announcement officially kickstarting the shoot of its much-anticipated sequel, Tumbbad 2. And if the newly released motion poster is anything to go by, audiences are in for a darker more intense cinematic experience.
Ever since its release, Tumbbad crafted by Sohum Shah has evolved into a cult classic widely regarded as one of the finest Hindi folklore fantasy films. Its re-release in 2024 further cemented its legacy turning it into the second highest-grossing re-released Indian film. Naturally wexpectations from Tumbbad 2 have been sky-high.
Marking the beginning of this ambitious sequel, the makers performed a traditional mahurat puja and unveiled a gripping motion poster. The visual features the eerie idol of Poorti Ki Devi instantly transporting viewers back into the haunting world of Tumbbad. However what truly sends chills down the spine is the ominous line: “प्रलय आयेगा” (The apocalypse will come) hinting at a much larger, possibly catastrophic narrative this time.
The motion poster brilliantly captures the unsettling tone and mystique that defined the original while elevating the suspense to another level. It not only teases a grander scale but also deepens the intrigue surrounding the storyline leaving fans speculating about the impending doom teased in the tagline.
Directed by Adesh Prasad Tumbbad 2 is being spearheaded by Sohum Shah under his banner Sohum Shah Films. The project is backed by Pen Studios led by veteran producer Jayantilal Gada the powerhouse behind blockbusters like RRR and Gangubai Kathiawadi. Distribution will be handled by Pen Marudhar.
With the shoot now underway and a motion poster that has already set the internet buzzing Tumbbad 2 is shaping up to be one of the most awaited and intriguing films in the coming years.
