The iconic Purvanchal underworld saga has made a roaring transition from OTT to the silver screen, delivering a high-voltage cinematic spectacle that fully lives up to its massive hype. Directed by Gurmmeet Singh and penned by original series creator Puneet Krishna, Mirzapur The Movie functions as a parallel origin narrative set during the events of the initial season, bringing back beloved characters like Pankaj Tripathi’s quietly menacing Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal’s fiercely volatile Guddu Pandit, and Divyenndu’s chaotic, fan-favorite Munna Tripathi. Loaded with raw action, razor-sharp local humor, signature dialogues, and maximum swagger, the three-hour theatrical spectacle successfully expands the scale of the franchise without losing the dark, gritty pulse that captivated millions of viewers.
Critics and moviegoers across the country are praising the film as a peak mass entertainer, singling out the electrifying chemistry between the primary leads as the ultimate highlight of the cinematic experience. Pankaj Tripathi commands total screen presence with his subtle authority and ice-cold demeanor, while Ali Fazal brings tremendous physical intensity and emotional rage to his portrayal of Guddu. Divyenndu makes a sensational return as Munna Bhaiya, dominating the screen with unhinged charm, tragic vulnerability, and explosive one-liners that trigger massive cheers in cinema halls. Supporting performances by Rasika Dugal as Beena Tripathi and new addition Ravi Kishan as the formidable Jaisalmer kingpin Babban add significant weight to the high-stakes narrative. While some reviewers note that the expansive runtime leads to slight pacing slumps in the second half, the overall film delivers an absolute treat for fans through powerful climax sequences, real-location visuals, and an extraordinary background score.
