Bollywood actress Yami Gautam is once again ready to surprise audiences with her choice of unique scripts, as the official trailer for her upcoming fantasy family-comedy Nayyi Navelli has finally dropped online. Directed by filmmaker Balaji Mohan and backed by producer Aanand L Rai, the film introduces Yami in a completely unconventional avatar as Mohini, a picture-perfect new bride whose grand entry into a chaotic household completely turns everyone’s lives upside down. Blending elements of traditional domestic drama with supernatural fantasy, the newly released trailer offers a deeper look into a story where warmth and suspicion go hand in hand, leaving viewers guessing whether the ideal new bahu is actually a blessing or an otherworldly entity in disguise.
The trailer opens with the familiar, lively atmosphere of a traditional Indian wedding household, capturing diverse family personalities, everyday banter, and customary rituals. Soon after her arrival, Mohini begins working absolute wonders for the family, effortlessly winning hearts and even curing the grandmother’s chronic knee pain with just a single touch. While the rest of the household is completely swayed by her magical charm and proclaims that her presence has completely reversed their fortunes, a suspicious brother-in-law remains deeply unconvinced. The plot thickens as hints of a supernatural persona start emerging, labeling her as a potential daayan (witch) hiding behind a sweet facade. However, the narrative scales up dramatically towards the end, expanding from a domestic comedy into an epic clash of good versus evil just in time for the festive season.
Speaking about her character, Yami Gautam shared that she was instantly drawn to the project because Mohini defies predictable tropes, seamlessly transitioning between family warmth, humor, intense emotion, fantasy, and action while keeping its core deeply rooted. Alongside Yami, the film features an impressive ensemble cast including Addinath M Kothare, Sunita Rajwar, Mita Vasisth, and Susmita Mukherjee in pivotal roles. With lively music composed by G.V. Prakash Kumar and a gripping script written by Divy Nidhi Sharma based on a story by Himanshu Sharma, Nayyi Navelli is officially locked for a worldwide theatrical release on October 16, arriving just ahead of Dussehra to treat audiences to a wholesome cinematic entertainer.
