Under her initiative titled The Slow Local, which initially began as a pop-up venture in Versova celebrating artisanal goods, she grows her own organic vegetables, cooks farm-fresh meals for visiting guests, and curates customized botanical oils. In addition to managing her eco-friendly retreat, Malini works remotely from home as a relationship manager for a coffee company, striking a harmonious balance between sustainable living and professional endeavors.
Recently, Malini pleasantly surprised her followers by stepping back in front of the camera on her own terms to launch The Slow Local Diaries video series, addressing fans directly by stating she is alive and happy while playing a nostalgic homage to Aapke Pyaar Mein in the background. Addressing online curiosity regarding whether she regrets leaving acting, Malini clarified on social media that she did not permanently quit but merely steered away, leaving open the possibility of steering back whenever she pleases. She also confirmed that she is no longer in touch with her former husband Priyanshu Chatterjee, choosing instead to focus entirely on her self-built sanctuary, slow living, and deep connection with nature.
