Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor has opened up about the profound personal transformation he experienced while preparing for and shooting his highly anticipated mythological epic, Ramayana. In a deeply candid conversation with Top Magazine, the actor revealed that stepping into the revered character of Lord Rama completely altered his lifestyle, core value system, and daily perspective on life. Ranbir admitted that when producer Namit Malhotra originally approached him with the monumental role roughly four years ago, his immediate instinctive reaction was to say no because he felt he was simply not fit or good enough to do absolute justice to such an iconic figure. However, his initial hesitation quickly morphed into deep love and immense gratitude as he realized the creative journey was not just a massive career move, but a truly life-defining experience that arrived precisely when he needed a spiritual and mental reboot.

The Animal actor shared that immersing himself in Lord Rama’s journey brought about numerous positive modifications in his personal life, effectively ridding him of several lingering bad habits. Ranbir explained that deeply studying the character’s immense restraint, humility, and ability to respond out of pure compassion rather than ego forced him to completely re-evaluate how he looks at personal loss, sacrifice, and the concept of Dharma. He noted that in today’s high-strung, fast-paced world where everyone is constantly on edge and desperate to aggressively reply with their own point of view, playing a figure who embodies such absolute calm and forgiveness served as an invaluable moral anchor that completely transformed his inner self.

The actor also beautifully highlighted a deeply emotional and sweet coincidence in his life, noting that his transition into fatherhood occurred simultaneously with his work on the grand film. Ranbir, who welcomed his daughter Raha Kapoor with wife Alia Bhatt in late 2022, stated that the two monumental life events were intricately connected in the most beautiful way possible. He explained that while his daughter instantly made him want to grow into a superior individual, working on Ramayana provided him with the exact moral framework and values required to actually become a better person and a more conscious father for Raha. He expressed immense happiness at being at the right place at the right time to represent Indian culture and history in its most authentic form, calling the entire synchronization a true blessing that he will remain eternally grateful for throughout his life.

Helmed by national award-winning filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari and co-produced by rockstar Yash alongside Namit Malhotra, the cinematic adaptation of Ramayana is being mounted on an unprecedented, jaw-dropping budget of four thousand crore rupees, cementing its status as the most expensive Indian film ever made. Structured as a grand two-part cinematic spectacle, the first installment is officially locked for a massive theatrical release during Diwali 2026, with the second part scheduled to follow closely during Diwali 2027. The star-studded project features a stellar pan-Indian ensemble including Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, promising to deliver a visually spectacular and emotionally resonant tribute to the timeless epic.
