Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar Reportedly Settle Don 3 Dispute with ₹10 Crore Refund

One of the most talked-about professional rifts in modern Bollywood appears to be reaching a peaceful resolution. According to recent reports on April 22 2026 actor Ranveer Singh has moved to settle his legal and financial standoff with filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and Excel Entertainment following his sudden exit from the highly anticipated action franchise Don 3.

The dispute which had escalated to the Producers Guild of India for mediation reportedly centered on the massive pre-production losses incurred by the studio after Singh stepped away from the project late last year.

To bridge the gap and avoid a prolonged legal battle Ranveer Singh has reportedly agreed to a two-part compensation package:
The Signing Amount: Singh will return his initial signing fee estimated to be approximately ₹10 crore (with some sources suggesting the figure could be as high as ₹12 crore).

The Pralay Stake: In a rare industry move the actor has also reportedly offered Excel Entertainment a financial stake in his next major solo project tentatively titled Pralay. While the exact percentage remains undisclosed this “future-equity” model is being seen as a graceful gesture to cover the reported ₹40 crore Excel had already spent on Don 3’s pre-production.

The friction started in December 2025 shortly after the release of Singh’s spy thriller Dhurandhar. Despite being officially announced as the new face of the Don franchise—taking over the mantle from Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan—Singh reportedly walked out of the film citing “creative differences” and the lack of a final bound script.

Excel Entertainment led by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani argued that the project had moved forward with the actor’s consistent approval. They claimed the sudden departure disrupted major schedules and resulted in significant sunk costs. The Producers Guild was eventually brought in to ensure the matter was resolved “amicably rather than legally.”

Industry analysts suggest that the massive global success of Dhurandhar—which recently crossed the $50 million mark overseas—may have shifted Singh’s priorities toward more original performance-heavy IPs rather than established franchises.

While Singh’s team initially alleged that Don 3 had been placed on the backburner due to a perceived “career slump” the actor’s recent box-office dominance has effectively silenced those claims allowing both parties to negotiate from a position of strength.

With Ranveer Singh officially out of the picture and the financial dispute nearing closure the fate of Don 3 remains a mystery.
Recasting Rumors: While names like Hrithik Roshan were briefly floated the actor recently clarified he was never approached.
The Director in Front of the Lens? There is growing speculation that Farhan Akhtar himself might return to the lead role though Excel Entertainment has yet to issue an official statement.

For now Ranveer Singh is shifting his focus to his upcoming projects under his new banner Maa Kasam Films including the rumored Pralay and the anticipated sequel Dhurandhar 2. Meanwhile the Don saga remains in limbo waiting for a new lead to step into the iconic boots of the underworld kingpin. To know such
