Actor and host Rhea Chakraborty recently opened up about her early career as an MTV video jockey, making surprising revelations about her earnings and cosmetic choices as a teenager. Speaking in a candid conversation with comedian Tanmay Bhat on his YouTube channel, Rhea recalled that by the age of seventeen or eighteen, she was earning a substantial salary of three lakh rupees per month. Reflecting on that time, she shared that video jockeys were paid handsomely during that era and receiving such a significant income at a young age made her feel extremely wealthy. She candidly admitted that she spent a major portion of her earnings on cosmetic procedures to enhance her facial appearance. When Tanmay Bhat humorously asked whether he should consider similar treatments, Rhea casually responded that everyone should consider a facelift, highlighting how advanced cosmetic technology has become in recent years.
During the interview, Rhea also recalled her early experiences meeting big industry stars, revealing that superstar Salman Khan was the very first celebrity she interviewed during her VJ days. She noted with a touch of humor that senior colleagues let her conduct the interview because everyone felt intimidated by him at the time. Reflecting on the entertainment industry’s evolution, she remarked that back then, camera access was primarily given to good-looking individuals. Following her television stint, Rhea made her silver screen acting debut with the Telugu film Tuneega Tuneega in 2012 before entering Bollywood with Mere Dad Ki Maruti in 2013. After navigating intense personal challenges, media scrutiny, and a temporary career pause following the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, she returned to showbiz as a gang leader on Roadies in 2023 and launched her apparel brand Chapter 2 in 2024. Rhea is now set to join the contestant lineup for the upcoming second season of the reality series The Traitors.
