Yash Starrer Toxic English Version Pulled Off From Theatres Due To Poor Box Office Response

Rocking Star Yash’s highly anticipated action film Toxic A Fairytale for Grown-Ups has suffered a major setback as its English version has been officially pulled from theatres after a disappointing one-week run.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the ambitious multi-lingual project was shot simultaneously in Kannada and English to cater to international audiences. However, the English edition failed to attract moviegoers, prompting cinema exhibitors across the country to discontinue its shows due to record-low footfalls and declining ticket sales.

The English cut of Toxic arrived in selected Indian multiplexes on September 4, targeting major urban centers such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, Gurugram, and Noida. Despite high expectations and a star-studded cast featuring Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, and Tara Sutaria, the film received a lukewarm response from day one. Reports indicate that the English version managed to collect only around 3.16 lakh rupees in its first week.

Collections dropped continuously through the opening weekend and plummeted further during weekdays, forcing theatre owners to pull the plug after just seven days of release.

The early removal of the English cut highlights the ongoing struggles for the big-budget action drama at the box office. While the original Kannada version and dubbed formats in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam opened to strong initial numbers, the film has faced heavy criticism over its screenplay and pacing.

Trade analysts suggest that targeting the global market directly with an English release was a risky move that ultimately failed to deliver commercial returns, forcing makers to focus exclusively on standard regional versions.
