In a move that has sent ripples of excitement through the student and filmmaking communities, the inaugural International Film Festival of Delhi (IFFD) 2026 has announced a landmark session featuring Bollywood’s “Mr. Perfectionist” Aamir Khan and acclaimed director RS Prasanna.

The duo, fresh off the massive success of their 2025 hit Sitaare Zameen Par, will take center stage at Bharat Mandapam on March 26, 2026, for an intimate interaction aimed squarely at the next generation of Indian creators.

More Than Just a Screening
While IFFD 2026 is set to showcase over 130 films from nearly 50 countries, the spotlight is firmly on the special screening of Sitaare Zameen Par. The film, which follows the journey of a disillusioned basketball coach (Khan) and a team of neurodivergent athletes, has been hailed as a spiritual successor to the 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par.

However, for Khan and Prasanna, the event is less about box office numbers and more about a “mission of empathy.”
“Cinema isn’t just about moving images; it’s about moving hearts,” Aamir Khan stated during a recent briefing. “With RS Prasanna’s vision, we wanted to show that every child, regardless of how they learn or play, is a star. At IFFD, we want to hear from the kids themselves.”

Empowering the “Sitaare” of Tomorrow
Director RS Prasanna, known for his ability to handle sensitive subjects with a blend of humor and heart, is expected to lead a masterclass during the session. His goal? To demystify the filmmaking process for young minds.

Inclusive Storytelling: Prasanna will discuss the importance of representing neurodivergent talent authentically on screen.
The Power of Persistence: The session will highlight the decade-long journey to bring this “spiritual sequel” to life.

Breaking Taboos: Khan and Prasanna will encourage young filmmakers to tackle “difficult” social themes through the medium of entertainment.

A Festival for the People
Festival Director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has emphasized that IFFD 2026 is designed to be accessible. Unlike traditional high-brow festivals, all screenings at the Bharat Mandapam and local multiplexes are free for the public, provided they register online.

“We want Delhi to breathe cinema this week,” Mehra noted. “Having Aamir and Prasanna interact directly with students bridges the gap between the ‘idols’ and the ‘aspiring.’ It tells a 15-year-old in the audience that their story, too, deserves a global stage.”

The session is expected to draw thousands of students from across the National Capital Region. Organizers have urged families and young enthusiasts to secure their spots via the official IFFD portal, as the “Aamir effect” is expected to result in a full house within minutes of registration opening.

As Delhi transforms into a cinematic playground this March, the message from its biggest stars is clear: the future of Indian cinema doesn’t belong to the studios—it belongs to the dreamers in the front row. To know such latest updates tuned tellyboosters.com Thank you!
