Popular stand-up comedian Daniel Fernandes has taken a sharp jab at Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar following her controversial statements regarding the student-led Delhi protests. During a recent live comedy show, Daniel targeted Bhumi’s online video where she criticized young protesters for using foul and abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Wittily taking aim at her sudden commentary, the comedian remarked that Bhumi woke up one morning and simply decided to be relevant again. He went on to mock her stance on moral policing and cultural values by pointing out how society often uses the label of culture to shame people whenever they speak out, humorously stating that in such contexts, culture is actually spelled as “control”. In her video message, she questioned whether youth would speak to elders in their own homes in such a manner and stressed that using abusive language goes against the country’s core culture and values.
