Acclaimed filmmaker Priyadarshan recently shared intriguing insights about his experience directing Saif Ali Khan for the very first time in their upcoming psychological action thriller Haiwaan. Speaking about their creative equation during a media interaction, the veteran director described Saif as a “greedy but obedient” actor who brings a unique blend of curiosity and dedication to the film set. Priyadarshan playfully referred to the star as a “mature child” because of his constant habit of asking a lot of questions before shooting a scene. He explained that while Saif seeks clarity on every minute detail, the moment his queries are answered, he completely surrenders to the director’s vision and follows instructions without hesitation. The director revealed that after the initial two days of filming, a strong mutual trust developed between them, leading Saif to tell him that he no longer needed to ask questions because he had fully grasped what Priyadarshan wanted on screen.
Highlighting Saif’s discipline away from the camera, Priyadarshan praised the actor’s rare habit of reading books between shots rather than staying glued to a smartphone screen. The filmmaker shared that Saif is a voracious reader with impressive knowledge about various subjects, making their conversations on set deeply engaging. Being a huge admirer of Saif’s father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Priyadarshan revealed that the two bonded over stories of the late cricket legend, with Saif even gifting him a book bearing his father’s autograph. In Haiwaan, which serves as an adaptation of Priyadarshan’s Malayalam hit Oppam, Saif plays the challenging role of a visually impaired protagonist who relies on his heightened senses. The film also features Akshay Kumar as a sinister antagonist, marking his reunion with Saif after 18 years alongside an ensemble cast that includes Boman Irani, Saiyami Kher, and Shriya Pilgaonkar. Scheduled for a grand theatrical release on September 11, 2026, the psychological thriller has generated massive curiosity among moviegoers eager to witness Priyadarshan’s directorial magic with the dynamic star cast.
