Popular digital content creator and social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, widely known to her millions of followers as Rebel Kid, has officially announced that she has relocated from India to New York. Sharing the life update during her appearance on the Untriggered By AminJaz podcast and later confirming it on her Instagram Stories, Mukhija revealed that she has enrolled in a full-time MBA program in New York City, where she will be residing in a college dorm. The creator explained that after extensive international travel, she fell in love with New York’s fast pace, vibrant fashion, food culture, and iconic architecture seen in her favorite web series, prompting her to apply to just one college in the city and pack her bags once accepted.
Opening up about her decision to leave behind a thriving online career and a comfortable lifestyle in India, Mukhija shared her desire to build a genuine social circle outside the influencer community. Reflecting on her undergraduate years, she noted that her initial college experience was disrupted by lockdowns and spent mostly in a long-term relationship, leaving her with few lasting friendships from that phase. She expressed that while she loves India, she did not see herself spending her future commuting daily or relying solely on social media creation for the rest of her life. Embracing student life again allows her to explore business opportunities and step out of the content creation bubble that has defined her public identity for years.
Addressing her famously chaotic online image and her previous online controversies, including the fallout from her appearance on India’s Got Latent, Mukhija frankly declared that her former persona is a thing of the past, stating that the “kaleshi aurat” is dead now. She admitted to feeling exhausted by the endless cycle of online cancellations and brand deal disruptions, acknowledging that while she created loud and dramatic content because it attracted views and made money, she now wants more creative freedom. Heading into her new chapter in the United States, Mukhija revealed that she plans to post videos only when she feels like it, prioritizing her education and personal growth over maintaining a strict uploading schedule.
