Kannada superstar Yash, who is currently gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated action spectacle Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, recently addressed a deeply sensitive chapter from his past regarding his fan base. Appearing on the popular talk show Aap Ki Adalat, the actor broke his silence on why he deliberately chose not to attend the funeral of a young fan who died by suicide in Karnataka. The tragic incident occurred back in February 2021, when a 25-year-old fan named Ramakrishna took his own life in Mandya district, leaving behind a suicide note expressing his final wish that Yash and politician Siddaramaiah attend his last rites. While Siddaramaiah made an appearance at the funeral, Yash consciously stayed away, a decision that drew considerable public discussion at the time.
Reflecting on his decision, the KGF star explained that attending the funeral would have set a dangerous and wrong precedent for his massive follower base. Yash shared that he was deeply saddened by the young fan’s passing, but he realized that as a public figure, he had a crucial responsibility to prevent setting an example that could lead to copycat incidents. He stated that if he had attended the funeral after such an act, many people might start believing that taking extreme steps would compel their favorite star to visit them. Emphasizing that such a mindset itself is wrong, the actor expressed that encouraging such behavior would not be right, which is why he maintained his stance to refrain from going.
Yash further elaborated on how fans should channel their affection, encouraging them to focus on positive life milestones instead of extreme measures. He noted that if a fan works hard, achieves something significant in life, and asks him to be there to celebrate their success, he will gladly try his best to make an appearance. However, validating a fan’s death by suicide would send the wrong message to vulnerable youth who look up to him. On the professional front, the 40-year-old actor continues to make waves with the promotional campaign for his Geetu Mohandas directorial Toxic, which co-stars Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth, and is scheduled for a grand theatrical release on August 26, 2026.
