Bollywood actress Vidya Malavade has strongly condemned the recent forced removal of education reformer Sonam Wangchuk from his protest site in the national capital, expressing deep concern over the handling of peaceful demonstrations. The Chak De! India and Mismatched star took to her official social media account to share an emotional video message detailing her distress after learning that the activist had been forcibly taken by authorities to Safdarjung Hospital on the 21st day of his indefinite hunger strike. The ongoing demonstration, organized under the banner of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), has seen thousands of students camp at Jantar Mantar to demand increased academic transparency and the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over recent examination irregularities. In her public address, Malavade described the current national atmosphere as heartbreaking and frustrating, noting explicitly that the forceful manner in which a peaceful reformer like Wangchuk was handled feels very scary to witness.

The actress strongly aligned herself with the young demonstrators, emphasizing that launching a peaceful protest against systemic wrongdoing is a fundamental right guaranteed to every citizen by the country’s constitution. She noted that it is deeply tragic to see young students driven to absolute despair over their academic futures, asserting firmly that the nation’s youth deserve direct justice and open administrative dialogue rather than being continuously ignored by policymakers. While expressing her solidarity with the core movement, Malavade highly praised Wangchuk’s wife, Gitanjali Angmo, for maintaining immense dignity and grace throughout the high-stakes legal and medical crisis. As the CJP’s planned “Chalo Sansad” march draws larger crowds to Jantar Mantar alongside veteran film icons like Shabana Azmi and Prakash Raj, the actress concluded her appeal by urging the central government to initiate immediate talks, reinforcing her public stance with a patriotic call to support the country’s future generation.
