As the highly anticipated horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla nears its theatrical release, Bengali superstar Jisshu Sengupta has shared a candid glimpse into his experience on set. In a series of recent interviews, the actor spoke warmly about his collaboration with the iconic duo of director Priyadarshan and lead star Akshay Kumar, describing the journey as one filled with initial jitters, learning, and plenty of laughter.

Overcoming the “First Day” Nerves
Despite being a seasoned performer in both Bengali and Hindi cinema, Jisshu admitted that the first few days of shooting for Bhooth Bangla were slightly nerve-wracking. However, he clarified that the tension didn’t stem from pressure, but from pure excitement.

“I wouldn’t say I was tense, but I was working with ‘THE’ Priyadarshan,” Jisshu remarked. “The first couple of days, I was a little unsure because he would just say ‘cut’ and then move to the ‘next shot’ without much feedback. I actually thought I might be doing something wrong!”

The actor soon realized that this was simply the director’s “silent approval” style. Once he understood that no news was good news on a Priyadarshan set, Jisshu felt completely at ease. He praised the veteran filmmaker for being “chilled-out” and open to advice from everyone on the crew.

The Akshay Kumar Experience
Working alongside Akshay Kumar, often referred to as the king of comedy in Bollywood, was another highlight for Jisshu. He described “Akshay Paaji” as a delight and a constant source of energy on set.

Jisshu noted the collaborative spirit between the lead actor and the director. He recalled instances where Akshay would suggest creative tweaks to a scene, and Priyadarshan would immediately embrace the ideas. “It was so much fun to be around him,” Jisshu shared, highlighting the camaraderie that made the London and Jaipur filming schedules memorable.

What Makes ‘Bhooth Bangla’ Different?
While many fans are comparing the new film to the 2007 cult classic Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Jisshu and the film’s creators have been quick to point out the differences. While Bhool Bhulaiyaa leaned into psychological thriller territory, Bhooth Bangla is reportedly more rooted in:
Indian Mythology: Drawing inspiration from the Vedas and the Mahabharata.

Supernatural Legends: The story centers on the mysterious “Vadhusur,” a demon haunting the town of Mangalpur.
Classic Slapstick: Blending Priyadarshan’s signature situational comedy with genuine scares.

With the film scheduled to hit theaters on April 10, 2026, the buzz continues to grow. For Jisshu, Bhooth Bangla represents more than just a role; it’s a masterclass in filmmaking alongside two of the industry’s biggest stalwarts. To
