Reality television star Soundous Moufakir has made headlines following her shocking elimination from the second season of the popular reality show The Traitors India. Hosted by Karan Johar, the high-stakes strategy show has kept viewers hooked with unexpected twists, secret betrayals, and intense mind games among its celebrity contestants. However, Soundous’s abrupt exit after being targeted by the newly recruited Traitor, Shahneel Gill—sister of star Indian cricketer Shubman Gill—has sparked major buzz and sparked controversy both on and off the screen. During the early stages of the game, Shahneel accepted an invitation to join the secret group of Traitors alongside fellow contestants like Krystle D’Souza, Kullu, and Harman Singha. Soon after joining forces, Shahneel spearheaded the decision to “murder” Soundous from the game, effectively ending her run on the show without a direct round-table vote from the rest of the group.
In a candid post-elimination interview, a vocal and disappointed Soundous did not hold back her feelings regarding her exit. Addressing the motives behind her elimination, Soundous called out Shahneel Gill directly, accusing her of acting out of personal insecurity rather than tactical gameplay. Soundous shared that there was no valid strategic reason to target her early in the game since she had done nothing to cross anyone. She expressed that when a woman chooses to target another confident, outspoken, and attractive female contestant in a game, it reflects personal insecurity rather than strength. Viewing the move as a personal threat rather than a real game threat, Soundous voiced that Shahneel simply did not want another strong female presence competing alongside her on camera. Co-contestant Munawar Faruqui, who was also interviewed alongside her after his own eviction, praised Soundous for her courage and honesty in expressing her unfiltered opinions without hesitation.
Reflecting on her overall journey, the Splitsvilla and Khatron Ke Khiladi alumna revealed that she feels it is time to close the chapter on reality TV shows. While reality television gave her career a vital start in India, Soundous explained that she is now looking forward to growing as an actor and pursuing mainstream acting roles instead of continuing in non-scripted format shows. Fans of The Traitors S2 continue to debate Shahneel’s bold gameplay move, making this dramatic early-season elimination one of the most talked-about moments of the series so far.
