The Cine and TV Artistes Association has encountered a significant internal conflict as eight elected members of its Executive Committee stepped down from their positions, citing a breakdown of confidence in the current administrative leadership. The group of resigning actors includes well-known industry figures such as Hemant Pandey, Mukesh Rishi, Sahila Chadha, Hetal Parmar, Puneet Issar, Vindu Dara Singh, Vikas Verma, and Deepak Parashar. Confirming the development, CINTAA General Secretary Upasana Singh revealed that a total of eleven members have submitted their resignations alongside formal complaints against CINTAA President Poonam Dhillon and Senior Vice President Padmini Kolhapure, alleging that the duo has been misusing their official posts and concentration of power. Calling for fresh elections to restore transparency and trust, the dissenting members emphasized that internal governance must align with constitutional protocols.
In their joint resignation letter submitted to General Secretary Upasana Singh, the members alleged a pattern of repeated departures from democratic decision-making, consultation, and collective governance within the trade union. They claimed that President Poonam Dhillon has repeatedly made unilateral decisions, issued official correspondence to government authorities using her personal email address, and communicated with key industry bodies without seeking prior review or approval from the Executive Committee. Upasana Singh further pointed out that conducting official organizational business through personal email accounts undermines administrative transparency and prevents the association from maintaining accurate central records that are accessible to all elected leaders.
The joint complaint also highlighted grievances regarding legal representation and government interactions on behalf of the association. The resigning members alleged that Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure visited government offices accompanied by privately hired legal counsel who were presented as official CINTAA attorneys without obtaining authorization or approval from the Executive Committee. Addressing the growing turmoil, legal advisor Suvigya Vidyarthi clarified on behalf of CINTAA that the Executive Committee has not been dissolved, as the association’s constitution requires more than fifty percent of elected members to step down for a dissolution to occur. He added that next-in-line candidates based on previous election vote tallies have been inducted into the vacant positions to ensure uninterrupted administrative operations while President Poonam Dhillon maintained that her efforts were focused solely on welfare and rebuilding the institution.
