In a major move that has sent ripples through the Indian film industry, powerhouse producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series and acclaimed director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri have officially confirmed their collaboration on a massive new project titled Operation Sindoor.
The film is set to be a cinematic retelling of India’s high-stakes military response to the tragic terror attacks that occurred in Pahalgam in April 2025. This partnership marks a significant alliance between the country’s leading music and film studio and a filmmaker known for his hard-hitting, research-driven narratives.
A Story of Strategy and Sacrifice
Operation Sindoor will draw its primary inspiration from the book Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan, authored by Lt Gen KJS ‘Tiny’ Dhillon. The narrative is expected to chronicle the intense 88-hour window between May 6 and May 10, 2025, detailing the strategic precision and bravery of the Indian Armed Forces during their retaliatory strikes.
Speaking about the project, Vivek Agnihotri emphasized his commitment to documenting “uncomfortable but necessary” history.
“My effort is to bring this story of courage, professionalism, and strategic clarity to audiences with authenticity, while also presenting it as an edge-of-the-seat cinematic experience,” Agnihotri stated.
He further revealed that his team has conducted extensive ground-level research in collaboration with various wings of the military to uncover details that remain outside the public domain.
High Stakes Collaboration
For Bhushan Kumar, this project follows the massive box-office success of Border 2, signaling a continued interest in large-scale patriotic storytelling. Kumar described the film as more than just a commercial venture.
“Some stories are not chosen; they choose you. When a nation goes through events of such magnitude, it becomes important to document them truthfully,” Kumar remarked.
Production Details
The film will be a joint production under the banners of T-Series and Agnihotri’s I Am Buddha Production.
While the makers have yet to announce the official cast or a release date, industry insiders suggest that the film is being mounted on a global scale to match the geopolitical significance of the events it portrays. Following the conclusion of his “Files” trilogy with The Bengal Files in 2025, Operation Sindoor appears to be Agnihotri’s most ambitious undertaking to date. To
